“IN THE LAST FEW YEARS OF DOING YOUTH WORK I HAVE REALISED THAT YOUNG PEOPLE DON’T GATHER AROUND GOOD FACILITIES OR CAREFUL PLANNING, INSTEAD THEY TEND TO GRAVITATE TOWARDS QUALITY YOUTH WORKERS.”

SPEAKERS

MIKE NICHOLLS

Being the change

Mike Nicholls has been doing youth work in Northampton, and in recent years has shown great tenacity and maturity in bringing some of those teenagers into adulthood, seeing some of them serving on his team and starting their own careers in leadership.

LUCY WINGAD

Engaging activities

Abi and Lucy have worked within the YMCA for the past 5+ years doing youth work full-time. They have raised up several youth groups, and have seen young people grow from snotty teenies to confident young adult volunteers in that time.

ABI WRIGHT

Engaging activities

These two are some of the best youth workers we’ve ever seen, and they are great at getting young people engaged. They will be introducing us to some activities and showing us how to be engaging with young people.

DAN HARGREAVES

Finding funding

Dan Hargreaves has built up a youth work in Lincoln that is admired across the UK, and has managed to find funding to keep it running whilst employing several staff part-time and full-time for the past ten years. Dan will be teaching us how to apply for funding and where to get it from.

DARREN EDWARDS

Events & Challenging behaviour

Darren Edwards is Pastor of Passion Youth Church in Lincoln and has grown a Youth Church from nothing to around 35 regular attenders with help from his committed youth team. Darren and Leah now have a team of five or six youth workers around them. Darren will be speaking about setting up events and how to handle and challenge bad behaviour.

“Good habits formed at youth make all the difference.”
